Clear Channel Chattanooga has relauched WLND My 98.1 as 98.1 The Lake with a Variety Hits format. 98.1 The Lake also becomes the first radio station to use Listener Driven Radio for the entire station. Listeners can vote for the songs played at 981TheLake.comFrom WDEF.com: Gator Harrison, Operations Manager Clear Channel, "Everybody wants on demand they want what they want when they want it why should your radio station be any different why shouldn't you be able to say hey I want to hear this song and hear it. It's a novel concept we always talk about we want to give our listeners what they want well why not give them the controls so they can have exactly what they want that's the idea behind 98-1 The Lake."
Whats this amied to do?? Cool sounding so far
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAAHA! "We play anything". Yet, do a search of any current artist and it comes up with "Can not locate artist".
ReplyDeleteWe play anything?
I know what they will be playing - Christmas music on November 1st.
They will play anything, as long as it happens to be one of the 100 songs that CC has already played 99999999999999 times. Another joke no wonder people say they are destroying radio.
ReplyDeleteThe first few songs I entered in "cannot be found." Yeah, they'll play anything. Just another canned, boring, automated jukebox. Ho hum. What will they be in six months?
ReplyDeleteActually this station is #1 in Cleveland, Oh and is run jockless. Remember when they had Classic Country on this station and they had decent ratings? Ah....corporate radio.....
ReplyDeleteThey are clueless as to do with that frequency. I agree with the post earlier - It will be Christmas music in 3 months. Then back to the format lab in January.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite amazing that 3 of CC's 4 radio station make ZERO dollars. How is that a business plan? WUSY is the ONLY station that brings in a dollar. Yet most of the time and energy is spent with a Rock station that has a 2 share, 98.1's format wheel, and the non-factor of WKXJ.
They don't believe in making money or putting out a good product. All they want is to saturate markets and destroy radio.
This is almost the same formant they started out with when they first dropped the legend format. The good part is, I haven't heard one bit of Lady Gaga or Katy Perry. The bad part is I haven't heard any good new songs either. This is basically Jack FM for a slightly younger audience. Another I Heart Radio staion with a slightly different name. When is someone going to give us a mainstream rock station like the old 96.5 The Mountain, or Fox 102, or even the original Rock 105? I doubt it will be Clear Channel.
ReplyDeleteCC= Completly Clueless. This sounds like a play out of the Brewer Handbook on how to destroy a radio station. Gone are the days of a quality product focused on our market, right here, CHATTANOOGA! Damn it! (i feel better)
