Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga has filed the proper papers today with the FCC to sell its radio station WDYN to Charlotte, NC based Bible Broadcasting Network.
When asked the reason for the sale Dr. Lovett said Tennessee Temple "is in the academics business and not the radio business. Operating a radio station is not in our 10-year plan."
Although terms of the deal were not disclosed immediately, it was reported that WDYN was worth an approximate $2.5 million.

BBN is a great conservative Christian radio station. I'm glad they got it.
ReplyDeleteBBN is a good Christian Network but will provide no local programming. A lot of listeners will wake up one morning and
ReplyDeletewonder what's happened to their favorite local programs, Sonrise, Gospel Dynamite, Prayer time Prophecy Today and Hey Earl.
Do the people in Chattanooga realize that a majority of Radio Stations are owned by people who don't live here. Many of the
ReplyDeleteprograms we hear come from other cities. According to their website, BBN originates all their programs from Charlotte, N.C. Bye Bye Tom, Bob and Earl.
Yeah they may be owned by companies out of town but in the case of Bahackel and Citadel they still give all of the descision making to the local team running the stations. Can't say the same for Clear Channel.
ReplyDeleteSo said that we are losing a Chattanooga treasure. Tom Sneed
ReplyDeletehas worked so hard for 20 years presenting quality Christian
program to this community. WDYN, we'll miss you.
WDYN was the radio station that featured the kids returning from Camp Joy. We practiced all week for the privilege of being on that station.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see BBN radio coming.. I LOVE IT!!! I will miss the local updates, but I will take that over some of the music on there. I love BBN!!!
ReplyDeleteSo Sorry to lose WDYN. The good people running it Tom, Bob and Earl have been like family. You know they pray and care. The great quality of the programs you know are true to the Gospel. I will miss Sonrise, Gospel Dynamite, Prophecy Today Crosstalk, Hey Earl, Sunday Mornings will Earl and Bill. It so saddens me to know that this great local radio station can no longer be. We have been truly blessed with the best. Thank you for all the times you have ministered to me an my family. Your kids programs Jonathan Park Gilead Lane etc have been a part of our Saturday morning ritual. God Bless.

ReplyDeleteAnd that is how Rush on FM was decided?
BS
My experience with BBN programming suggests a musical format in keeping with the biblical "songs, hymns, and spiritual songs".
