JammerRadio Returns to the Chattanooga Radio Airwaves!
Newstalk 95.3, WPLZ and Jay Scott, known to most radio listeners as "The Jammer", proudly announce a new era of "JammerRadio", begins this Monday, June 28, weekdays 4-7pm.
Jammer has had tremendous success in both rock music radio for a total of 20 years, the last 11 locally, and 5 years hosting JammerRadio locally in another time slot. He's also been a mortgage banker locally for 17 years.
The "Equal Opportunity Offender Network" returns with his eye to the local scene, the movers and shakers, investigative reporting, human interest stories, and emphasis on being user-friendly, inter-active with his audience.
"I'm proud to be associated with a great family here at Brewer Broadcasting. It's like coming home to so many old friends, and people I've been acquainted to for a long time. I've held the Brewer family in high regard as a competitor for a long time as well.
I'm excited to help this station grow, and hope to build on what I did for 5 years previously. We will focus on holding public officials accountable, present all sides to any story, offer insight beyond the sound bytes and other short form media reports. The show will combine information, personality, entertainment and I will bring back many of the elements or segments you came to know and love, the music themes, and the people making the news. Come join the show or you might become the show!!"
You can follow Jammer on Twitter (@JammerRadio), his Facebook page "JammerScott" and email is 'chattjammer@yahoo.com.

THIS station shud just quit wasting their money bc they are horrible, and what happen to the Pulse name they used??
ReplyDeletethe Pulse branding was dropped along with the long list of knee-jerk reactions by the Brewer Brass.
ReplyDeleteHaving Jammer on board might be the 1st good decision this company has made. The format "clock" will have to be changed if anybody is going to be able to have a successfully entertaining show.
It doesn't matter how good you are the "WSB cloned" clock will not allow any subject matter to stick.
I would like to see Clark Howard forever removed from chattanooga airwaves and see Jammer back in & going up against his old timeslot. Now this makes a lot of sense so the chances of it happening is not great.
but we will see.
Ed Ramsey was relieved of his duties last night. Jammer is on 4-7 shift. I like Clark Howard but wish he was on early evening. I do enjoy Bobby Byrd in the morning on the station but wish they had moved Ed to morning news anchor and gotten rid of Lewis Lee.
ReplyDeleteBlow Bobby out and put on a loud buzzing and I might listen
ReplyDeleteI really like Clark Howard and hope he stays on. He is good enough to have his own show on HLN, so he must have some kind of a following. As so far as Jammer, I think this is probably a step in the right direction. I would really like to see 95.3 survive and keep giving Chattanooga a choice in talk radio.
ReplyDeleteCan't figure out what the love affair with Capn Bobby Byrd is. He is not good at all. He is loud and abrassive sounding and sounds uneducated.
ReplyDeleteI didn't listen to The Pulse until a friend told me Bobby Bird was over there. I think he does a great job. I saw him out one time and he was very friendly. Hope he is there a long time!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that Bobby is reading the forum. Way to toot your horn captin.
ReplyDeleteBobby being friendly is so put on and fake. I never met anyone who was as full of himself as Bobby. I give him another month and Brewer will blow him out or like usual he up and quit. Oh yeah and he is SO FRIGGIN lazy!
ReplyDeleteand the turn over continues.
ReplyDeleteagain. good move with Jammer. The only good move that has been made on this station.
but that's 5th, FIFTH afternoon host in 14 months. people have been losing jobs since the start of this bad dream except for the people who keep making horribe management decisions.
who gets fired next?
Bobby
ReplyDeleteI still say it's a colossal waste of money (so is 105.1 for that matter). With those signals, Brewer should have kept Roy Jaynes on board and let him program cheaply ran & voicetracked music formats. Ratings would have been equal or better, and overhead would have been greatly reduced. Landecker & Brewer's fear of hurting 'JTT in any way with a music format is the reason for this absurd obsession with an expensive, failing talk format.
ReplyDelete"Horrible decisions" are synonymous with the name "Brewer Media Group." Nice shaft they gave to Ed Ramsey. Wonder which horoscope they read to make this decision? Is that building on Chestnut big enough to contain Jammer's ego? And be on the lookout for all the external media promotion they'll do for his show....which will be exactly ZERO....
ReplyDeleteGreat! Now I get to drive around town all day on my route and see The Jammer's likeness on Millenium cab tops! That is, if his ego will fit onto a singular cab top sign! Jesus! Earth to Carter Street: Have you heard of billboards (other than that sorry "hot dog condiments-looking" thing on the ridge cut)? Whoever designed or gave the stamp of approval for that should be fired immediately, if they haven't been already. And what about Carta bus ads? Nobody in the "ghetto" where those taxis mainly travel is gonna listen to 95.3, visit websites, much less read The Pulse. Now, don't get me wrong Jammer is good at what he does, and I wish him and the rest at Brewer all the best, but isn't it a little too late? Too many people have turned on the station and laughed while WGOW has been laughing all the way to the bank with a fresh copy of the Arbitron numbers.
ReplyDeletenope. the clock has not changed. good luck Jammer, you're gonna need it.
ReplyDelete4:15p - the first of 15 traffic reports hits.
"oh, ahh, traffic with Chris Taylor"
and who didn't know this, no problems on the roadways. Thanks for interrupting Jammer mid-sentence.
Takes 2 calls. First is "Charlie" who's been blowing up WGOW's phones daily for 20 years, followed by another "I love you man" call. Then immediately to break. about 6 1/2 minutes for the opening segment.
As soon as we get back from break, it's 4:23. Almost time for a traffic report. 10 minutes after the last. and we are almost to the bottom of the hour for a long winded news break.
Click! that's me killing my internet feed.
Let the man have a freaking TALK show!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with the above. WAY too many traffic reports, and WAY too many breaks. For the love of God, at least move the traffic reports to within the breaks so there aren't so many damn interruptions in the show. And the 10 minute top of hour/bottom of hour news, weather, traffic, commercials is ridiculous as well.
ReplyDeleteFour 4 minute commercials breaks and hour with quick traffic and weather into stop set is sufficent for this town. Any more than that is OVERKILL.
ReplyDeleteUntil someone blows up that stupid "Brewer clock" and lets Jammer be Jammer...that station is doomed to (continued) failure. Duh!
ReplyDeleteThe last two comments are pretty much right on. WPLZ needs to get rid of the clutter, cut back on all the features, cut back on the news & traffic --- invest in savvy hip producers to work with Bobby and Jammer, screen the calls, line up guests, select compelling news of the day type topics, get controversial and let her rip. Maybe even add Robert T when his non compete is up. Done correctly this format is hard to beat, to date they have made numerous missteps.
ReplyDeleteThe Traffic reports are usually outdated when the give them on the air. Last week I was on I-75 going north and they said it was smooth sailing on the interstates when I noticed a stand still on the south bound side from East Brianerd past Hamilton Place. I called them on their updated line and talked to Logan and listened for about 15 mins longer and they never updated that report. Why give so many reports if the are NOT correct maybe they should hire Captain Herb from WSB.
ReplyDeleteIt is the Brewers way of sorry radio. OM Keith Landecker could give a rats ass on how the other stations sound in the building because of hurting his precious Power 94. All that will change soon. LOOK FOR DIRECT COMPETITION TOWARD THE URBAN STATIONS COMING SOON. Then we will see how Jim Brewer and Keith Landecker react with there stations in the building!!
ReplyDeleteAnd what station would mount the challenge? The black population is not large enough and Brewer already has all of the available share of audience.
ReplyDeleteThis thread is not about Keith or JTT.
ReplyDeleteIt's about a 1960's style programmed talk station that sucks.
Please stay on topic. Thanks.
TO the last comment that is where you are mistaken they are all intertwined. Andyes there is enough blacks to have another direct competitor. What you do is run one out of town by doing a better job. And in the case of JTT that will not be hard. THEY ARE LAZY!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see all the cc folks reading and chiming in on the forum. Welcome (btw if you would focus on your on stations rather than Brewer you might just make up some of the ground you have lost in market share).
ReplyDeleteHow about Ed Schultz or Thom Hartmann in the evenings?
ReplyDeleteOr Switch Clark Howard to evenings and put Ed or Thom in his place.
At least weekends aren't infomercial hell like WGOW.
Speaking of infomercial hell (yes I know, I'm going off-topic, sue me): has anyone heard Jed Mescon's Talk Radio 102 evening show? Wow, that is some bad radio. I mean bad, literally. Tonight (Wed.) it was like a trading post show. He was begging for calls, telling everyone how great they are, and had some college kid sidekicks. He was asking businesses to call in and give themselves a free plug. Wonder how the station's paying advertisers like that? Refund, maybe? Just when you think local radio has reached a new low, it goes even lower.
ReplyDeleteChattanooga State pays for that hour. For all GOW cares Jed can talk talk about lost cats & dogs for 60 minutes. If the 7p - 8p hour is sold. That's all they care about.
ReplyDeleteNow it certainly does suck. No arguement there. But the money is already in the bank.
If you've got the money, you can buy pretty much any hour M-F 7p-12a that isn't already sold....same thing goes for a lot of weekend hours....we are WAAAAY past the days of radio being about entertainment...
ReplyDeleteThat's why a lot of stations sound like crap!!!! People buy time to be on the air that don't need to be on the air because they want to hear themselves talk and thank they are a radio god. They sound like crap, don't talk about anything, and the station owners wonder why the ratings are low. Some owners could care less what the station sounds like as long as the money is coming in for these god awful sounding shows.
ReplyDeleteLook at Brewers music formated Groove 93.5 It's suppose to be a music station and starting to sound like a 3rd talk station in the group day by day. Talk shows in the middle of the day on a music formated station with god awful announcers on the air talking about nothing!!! Especially on the weekend.
Ex Clear Channel sales people now at Brewer using the same cheap tactics they used when they were with Clear Channel.
We have less music formated stations in the market and more crap on the air than ever.
Jammer's first week was a non-event.
ReplyDeleteThe first week being a non event....and you're surprised? You know...maybe people just don't care anymore.
ReplyDeletehey while you are driving around town boiling at the hiring of jammer. you could go .... yourself and quit posting on here. would you like some cheese for your little baby whine?
ReplyDeletewhat happened to the debate? attorney games was supposed to broadcast it tuesday night. waited and waited and waited. what happened?
ReplyDeleteit's attorney james, not games, you idiot. you can reach him at 756-3646 and ask him yourself. i heard it was among a doctor, a fat lawyer, and a pacifist teacher. typical democrats. glad stuart decided to cancel, if he did.
ReplyDeleteit's attorney james, not games, you idiot. i heard it was among a doctor, a fat lawyer, and a pacifist teacher. typical democrats. call stuart james at 756-3646 and ask him yourself. i'm glad stuart canceled, if he did.
ReplyDeleteThe web feed that the station was to take had technical issues.
ReplyDeleteJammer's done a good job getting candidates on the air. Had Ron Ramsey earlier today in the studio. Supposed to have Zach tomorrow. And he keeps talking about going after the school board. Let's see if he can flush 'em out.
ReplyDeleteCan someone please teach Gary poole and Jammer to stop saying UH! Every other word out of their mouth is "UH". What this means is that you are lost in thought because you are UNPREPARED! Stop saying "uh"! I counted no less than 20 each n the span of about 2 minutes for the both of them.
ReplyDeleteDammit it's been three months and Gary Poole is still saying "UH" like crazy! It's called being prepared, know what you are about to say before you turn on that microphone! Oh yeah and Jammer sounds bored as all get out! Give him another two months and Brewer will kick him out!
ReplyDeleteafter only 5-6 monthson the air,Jammer has left wplz, apparently over problems with the management
