Rock 105 To Change Formats?

We have received several reports both on here and through email that Rock 105 (105.5) will be flipping formats sometime this week (10th-14th).

What could they be changing to? Let the discussion begin...

  2. I don't believe Rock 105 has any plans to change anything they look very good in the ratings. I could see WLND being relaunched as Lite 98, very soft AC, no repeat work day's, 98 minute music sweeps, aimed right at the core of Sunny. There is also a hole for Oldies.

  3. Not gonna happen - This is one giant false rumor being spread by either someone at CC or some former employee. That station is needed to keep KZ106 under control.

  4. A Rhythmic AC format called the Groove. Playing anything from the 70's to todays music. Target Demo females 25 to 54. Check out the stations 105.7 the Groove in Atlanta Ga and 107.3 The Groove in Pensacola Fl. This is Clear Channels new format alternative to flip to when a station is not performing that well in the market. The one thing about the Chattanooga market is that the Groove slogan is already being used by Brewer Medias WMPZ Groove 93.5

  5. Makes sense. Since Rock had one of the best books they have had in a long time, it's best to change. Hey, the Legend pulled a 7.1 and they done got changed. It's the Clear Channel way!

  8. I wouldn't expect a format change. Mainly, because it is a plugged in format from CC's lab in whoknowswhere. It's not programmed locally, they have no promotional budget, and they can't sell it for quarters. What they can do is shed the lower demographics away from KZ, which in turn, keeps KZ off of WUSY.

What I would keep an eye on is the employment status of Billy and Boner. From what I understand, The only reason they kept employment when Jared took over was due to Jay's backing. Now that he is gone, I would anticipate seeing a shedding of some of the members of the "previous regime". Kxj has one employee (who is a "ego-maniac, prima donna" - as another employee stated) on a pre-programmed station. RXR has 2. I would think that due to RXR's inability to turn ratings into revenue means they would shed costs. The only costs associated with that radio station is the employment of 2 people who have no other job responsibilities around the building, other than a 4 hour air shift.
