The two awards they won are Best Audio Feature Reporting (Small Market) for the Downtown Kayaking feature and Best Audio News Series (Small Market) for the Crime Series.

You can listen to the Kayaking feature here and the Crime series audio is here.

On a side note has anyone noticed that WPLZ 95.3 has dropped the 'Pulse' branding lately?

  1. so when is anybody going to discuss the continued shuffling of the line-up of this "award-winning" radio station?

just days away from the 1 year birthday of this trainwreck.

  2. This blog and the comments thereon are what appear to be "irrelevant." As far as the shuffling line-up, at least no one has been fired. Deason left to concentrate on his advertising business.

  3. I find it amusing that if noboby's listening to this station that so many people know what's going on with it. Sum-body's full of crap!

  5. Ratings out next week. Anyone have predictions?

  6. Ratings = who cares! As long as there are local advertisers local radio will survive! Consider this this: If agencies due to ratings buy the top 3 or 4 stations then why is it that the market can still sustain what 20 radio stations? That is because local Mom and Pop companies don't care about paying HIGH ad rates because of ratings. yes it works!

  7. It's a shame that a post that started out as congratulations turned nasty. Just can't understand all the hate being spewed. If you don't like this station, don't listen to it. Man, this is a surly bunch of malcontents.

  9. congrats? for some minor small market award that no one has ever heard of. OK. great.

one day away from their one year anniversary and they have changed anchors/hosts over a 1/2 dozen times, changed their branding (pulse news/news talk), initially hired & fired @ an alarming rate, & filled their stop sets w/ Chattanoogacan't sell advertising.com's

and speaking of sales, not to mention the revolving door in that department.

    this isn't "nasty" it's reality.

  11. Brewer has no expertise in this format. It was an admirable effort but it has failed!
