Thursday they re-named a piece of Broad Street.
Tennessee's legislators voted to rename stretch of US Highway 11 as Luther Masingill Parkway. It's honor many don't receive and one our Luther was almost too humble to accept.
State Senator Bo Watson reads to the legislature in Nashville, "To most of us gathered in this chamber this is just a simple bill naming a road after another individual. But to the citizens of Hamilton Co. This is an important opportunity to pay tribute to one of if not the most esteemed citizen in our county, Luther Masingill."
With that Senate Bill 2643 passed and a one mile stretch of Broad street became Luther Masingill Parkway.
Luther says jokingly, "Do they really know what they're doing. I mean to name a street after me." For 70 years Luther has been a part of Chattanooga broadcasting.
Luther has been nominated to the National Radio Hall Of Fame in Chicago. Congratulations!
