From The Chattanoogan:
Brewer Media announces Jim Gumm as the official afternoon host on 105.1 ESPN Chattanooga. Having worked in the sports and broadcasting industry for decades, Mr. Gumm is no newcomer to sports radio. As a young high school graduate from Bradley Central, he entered the sports world from the ground up as a member of the Cincinnati Reds ground crew back in 1979. His love for sports later found him writing about it, as he became a contributor for Football Time in Tennessee in 1990 and has continued to freelance for them as well as Basketball Time in Tennessee ever since.

From 953WPLZ.com:
Robert T. Nash, the sometimes controversial and always entertaining talk radio personality, will return to the local airwaves via News Talk 95.3 WPLZ beginning Monday October 10. “As a veteran explorer of some rather rarified On Air turf, I think it’s most fitting I’ll be coming back on Columbus Day,” Nash said. “After all, I was born and reared in Chattanooga, Tennessee and I’ll put my grasp and knowledge of the literal and figurative lay of the local land up against anyone working in local media.”

“I have an elephant’s memory, enjoy shining a little disinfecting light into dimly lit nooks and view no turf as ‘off limits’,” Nash added. “I am thrilled at the prospect of being back On Air again, and I want to thank the nice folks at Brewer Media Group for giving me this opportunity.”
Nash, who was born at the corner of McCallie Ave. and O’Neal St. in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, grew up in Brainerd and East Brainerd and attended local public schools. The 49-year-old Brainerd resident began working on local political campaigns as a child volunteer. A great-aunt and great-uncle – both now deceased – had him carrying campaign signs and canvassing door-to-door as a child for various candidates seeking local office.

Listeners can vote for the songs played at 981TheLake.comFrom WDEF.com: Gator Harrison, Operations Manager Clear Channel, "Everybody wants on demand they want what they want when they want it why should your radio station be any different why shouldn't you be able to say hey I want to hear this song and hear it. It's a novel concept we always talk about we want to give our listeners what they want well why not give them the controls so they can have exactly what they want that's the idea behind 98-1 The Lake."

WDOD-AM Goes Silent With Sale To Baylor
From The Chattanoogan.com:
WDOD, Chattanooga's oldest radio station, has gone silent after 86 years on the air. The large, valuable WDOD property along the Tennessee River has been sold to Baylor School.
WDOD's last day on the air was Tuesday. It most recently had a sports format. The station had moved to an Air America format in 2005 when longtime station fixture Earl Freudenberg left to join WDYN. WDOD later moved back to easy listening.
Bernie Barker, station general manager, said, "The equipment at the station was very old and the parts were hard to get. The components had to be made in some cases." He said Baylor School needed the property for expansion so the deal was signed on Wednesday.
Mr. Barker said the WDOD license was turned back to the FCC. He said no employees lost their job. The deed says the property is 22 acres and the sales price was $600,000.
